The Northeast St. Petersburg neighborhood is marked by a series of canals, great views, and a standout architectural feature.
For a town tucked away on Florida’s Gulf Coast, St. Pete certainly boasts a high level of architectural diversity.
Often times, this diversity is spread out around and confined within the borders of the city’s many eclectic neighborhoods. From Jungle Prada in West St. Pete to Coquina Key in the Southeast, every neighborhood has those special qualities that make them stand out from the crowd, while instilling a sense of pride with residents.
Venetian Isles in Northeast St. Pete is one of these special neighborhoods. Located on the easternmost point of Pinellas County, it is tucked away from the rest of the city, bordering the neighborhoods of Shore Acres and Snell Isles, and overlooking Tampa Bay. Weedon Island Preserve is located just north of Venetian Isles – although there’s no direct access to it from the neighborhood (you must travel north through the city to reach it).
Although located in a corner of the city, Venetian Isles still offers convenient access to many amenities and daily needs. A quick jaunt westbound on 62nd Avenue NE or 40th Avenue NE – the two main connectors from the neighborhood to the rest of the city – will have you on 4th Street in just over 5 minutes, where you’ll find grocery stores, gas stations, and plenty of restaurants. Downtown St. Pete is under 15 minutes away and Interstate 275, which provides access to Tampa (northbound) and Bradenton (southbound), can be reached in less than 15 minutes as well.
The neighborhood’s name is derived from its collection of “isles” that are connected by one main road, Grand Canal Boulevard NE. This unique layout creates a series of canals, placing almost every home in the neighborhood on the waterfront. Boating, fishing, and other aquatic recreation activities are very popular within the neighborhood, as you might imagine.
The Homes in Venetian Isles
Venetian Isles is one of the more sought after neighborhoods in St. Pete, thanks to its waterfront backdrop, unique location, and quality of the homes. Despite all of this, comparitively speaking it does offer slightly more affordability than other neighborhoods in the city with similar geographic features, namely neighboring Snell Isle.
Homes for sale in Venetian Isles have a median listing of $799,000. As of the writing of this article there were 33 homes actively for sale in the neighborhood, which spend an average of 44 days on the market. This leaves many opportunities for new homeowners looking to settle into the area.
Venetian Isles homes are marked by their trademark clay tile roofs – a standout feature of the neighborhood and of Mediterranean-style architecture. Many front elevations are designed to accentuate the Mediterranean style with eye-catching features, unique colors, and grand entryways. Out back of many Veneitan Isles homes, you’ll find a design that embraces outdoor living and makes the most of the neighborhood’s beautiful waterfront views.
Although many homes fall well below the $1 million mark, many also elevate well into multi-million dollar status. Some of the more expensive listings can be found on Carolina Ave NE and Hawaii Ave NE. In fact, a home sold in January 2024 on Hawaii Ave just broke the neighborhood’s all-time record for price per square foot, closing at $5,800,000.
